Earn while you learn - Does your future lie in property?
Are you interested in pursuing a career in auctioneering, estate agency and property management?
Well, a recently-launched apprenticeship that allows you to earn while you learn could be the stepping stone you need into a rewarding career.
The Auctioneering and Property Services Apprenticeship is a nationally accredited two year programme designed to meet needs in the auctioneering, estate agency, property management and property letting sector. The apprenticeship has been developed by the City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB) in partnership with the property services industry.
Apprentices are paid a salary and off-the-job education is government-funded. It’s a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate programme, combining on-the-job training (four days a week) with academic study (one day per week in college). Apprentices learn about all areas of the business by completing projects and case studies and taking part in lectures and group sessions.
Ultimately, apprentices develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for a successful career in estate agency, property management and property letting. Graduates of the course will also be eligible to apply for a Property Services Regulatory Authority (PRSA) licence.
The first intake of apprentices began the programme in September 2018 and it celebrated its formal launch in April 2019. Employers that are currently employing apprentices include Sherry Fitzgerald, Lisney, Savills, Flynn & Associates, Knight Frank and Casey Kennedy Estate Agents.
The programme is designed for:
- School leavers who want to become a Property Service Provider without going down the university route
- Graduates or college students who wish to further their education in the Property Services sector
- Career changers who work or have worked in other industries and would like to start a career in estate agency or property management
- People already working in the sector
